My fav pappucharu / dal

This used to be the tasty and daily item in my home, my mother used to prepare this very tastily, i never got it that much tastier even i made it several times....badly missing my mom's food. Finally,  after many trials i got nearly to the taste of my mother's made recipe. Here i'm sharing this delicious and easy home made pappucharu / dal recipe.
Ingredients:
Kandi pappu/ Split toor dal/ yellow lentils----------1cup(160ml)
Tomato chopped---------------------------------1cup
Onions chopped---------------------------------1/2cup
Curry leafs--------------------------------------few
Green chilies chopped--------------------------1ts
Ginger garlic paste-----------------------------1ts
Turmeric---------------------------------------pinch
salt-----------------------------------to taste
Chili powder------------------------1/2ts
Tamarind Pulp--extracted from 1 lemon size tamarind soaked in water.
ciliantro----------------------------for garnishing
For seasoning:
cumin seeds----------------------few
Mustard seeds-------------------few
Dry chili------------------------1
onions finely chopped----------1ts
vegatable oil/ghee------------2ts

Method:

  1. Take a pressure cooker and add i cup of toor dal and wash it.
  2. To it add 2 cups of water.
  3. Add chopped tomatos+green chilis+onions+gingergarlic paste+turmeric+curry leaf and mix well.
  4. Now close the cooker and place weight valve on the cooker and cook the mixture under medium-high flame for 3 whistles.
  5. Now let all the gas escape out from the cooker
  6. Now, take the weight valve from it and open the lid.
  7. mash the mixture throughly with spoon/masher.
  8. Add tamarind pulp+salt+chili powder and mix well, add water if required.
  9. Now cook this mixture for 5min under simmer
  10. Mean while prepare seasoning, for this take a pan heat 2ts of ghee/vegetable oil in it
  11. Add cumin+mustard+redchili+onions and cook them throughly. (Some prefer adding cumin and mustard and later they add onions but in this process there is a chance of spices getting burned so i add along with onions)
  12. When the seasoning is prepared, add it to the dal/ pappu and mix well and turn off the stove.
  13. Finally garnish with cilantro.
